New Diesel CX 5

Mazda has confirmed that the United States market will be gaining a new features and options for the2018CX 5. While we don't know every detail about
this new upgrade, we do know that a diesel powered engine will be offered.

Engine and Specs

The engine of the 2018 CX 5 will be a naturally

aspirated 2.0 liter, the same as the earlier models.  However, there is the option of a larger 2.5 liter naturally aspirated engine which will be able to reach up to 184 horsepower and 185 lb-ft of torque versus the 155 horsepower and 150 lb-ft torque of the 2.0 liter.

Mazda's new 3rd engine alternative will be a 2.2 liter turbocharged inline 4 SkyActiv diesel. This engine offers 173 horsepower and a whopping 310 lb-ft of torque. These configurations will make this engine the most effective diesel on the market. One of the greatest benefits of a diesel power engine is the fuel efficiency on faster traveling roads such as the highway. Mazda's new diesel powered CX 5 is expected to be easily getting 40 miles to the gallon.

The 2018 and 2017 CX 5 will be have very few differences, if any. Other than a few badges and new set of rims, the diesel will look extremely similar as well. There may also be a paint selection specifically for the diesel powered models.

With this new improvement, the Mazda CX 5 is said to blow all of the other cars in its class out of the water, offering segment-leading fuel economy and performance. The diesel Mazda CX 5 should be released throughout the United States in late 2017 or early 2018 and in the $30,000 price range.
